Simulations of ITER Disruption and VDE scenarios with TSC and comparison with DINA results

چکیده
Vertical Displacement Events (VDEs) and plasma current disruptions can seriously degrade the lifetime of in-vessel components in ITER, as large electromagnetic and thermal loads can be induced at such events. Hence, accurate modelling of such events is crucial for estimating disruption induced forces. In the past, ITER disruption modelling has been carried out using the DINA code. However, since predictive simulation of such events depend on a large number of model assumptions, the resultant predictions may contain significant error bars. It is important therefore to validate the code results with other models. With such an objective in mind, we have carried out VDE and Disruption simulations using the Tokamak Simulation Code (TSC) and the results are compared with the earlier DINA predictions. The two model predictions match reasonably well, especially in the early linear part of the vertical evolution, though there are some differences in the phase dominated by halo currents.

متن کاملEects of plasma disruption events on ITER ®rst wall materials
In ITER, plasma disruption events may occur producing large fast thermal transients on plasma facing materials. Particularly important for the integrity of the ®rst wall (FW) are relatively ÔlongÕ duration o-normal events such as plasma vertical displacement events (VDE) and runaway electrons (RE). An analytical methodology has been developed to speci®cally assess the eect of these events on ...

متن کاملScenario-based modeling for multiple allocation hub location problem under disruption risk: multiple cuts Benders decomposition approach
The hub location problem arises in a variety of domains such as transportation and telecommunication systems. In many real-world situations, hub facilities are subject to disruption. This paper deals with the multiple allocation hub location problem in the presence of facilities failure. To model the problem, a two-stage stochastic formulation is developed. In the proposed model, the number of ...
متن کاملPrediction for disruption erosion of ITER plasma facing components; a comparison of experimental and numerical results
An evaluation is given for the prediction for disruption erosion in the International Thermonuclear Engineering Reactor (ITER). At first, a description is given of the relation between plasma operating parameters and system dimensions to the predictions of loading parameters of Plasma Facing Components (PFC) in off-normal events. Numerical results from ITER parties on the prediction of disrupti...
